Your Most Important Customers Are Your Employees: Leadership Insights From Building an Operations Department
What would happen if you took best practices for building a new product and applied them to building a new department? When Adam Birnbaum joined Buildout as its first operations employee, he approached the operations department as a "product," viewed fellow employees as his "customers," and set out to build an operating framework for the company. Over the next year, Adam applied concepts from the world of entrepreneurship and product management to build and scale the operations department. In this talk, Adam will discuss his experience building the operations department at Buildout and share insights that can be applied to any leadership role.
Adam Birnbaum is Executive Vice President of Operations at Buildout, a 90-person SaaS startup that commercial real estate brokerages use to market their commercial property sale and lease listings. In his role, Adam is responsible for running and scaling the company by leading operations and managing marketing, sales, and customer success.
Adam is an experienced operator in SaaS/tech with over 10 years of experience. Throughout his career he held a broad range of responsibilities spanning general management, strategy and operations, sales and marketing, customer success, business development, product management, software development, and analytics.
Adam has mentored entrepreneurs at 1871, Design for America, and the Northwestern University Founder Center. He earned an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. from Northwestern University.
Adam is a personal development enthusiast, marathoner, and avid musician.
