The Wharton Club of Chicago, in partnership with MIT Sloan Alumni Network, Columbia Business School Alumni Club of Chicago, Berkeley Haas Alumni Network, Chicago Booth Alumni Club, and Penn Club of Chicago, invites you to a special in-person discussion with Ilene Gordon and Bram Bluestein, co-authors of ‘Doubling Down: The Secret Sauce for Dual-Income Families”. The book, published in October 2021, shares their winning strategy for juggling high-impact careers, a strong marriage and successful child-rearing.

This will be a rare experience to network and hear directly from two titans of industry on key issues that many professionals face as they build their careers and families. The interview will be hosted by Patricia Tsao. Bios for our panelists and interviewer are below.

This two-hour special event will be hosted and catered at the TechNexus incubator at the historic Civic Opera House in downtown Chicago. TechNexus is Chicago’s premier innovation destination for executives, entrepreneurs, and technologists looking to connect,

Panelist: Ilene Gordon is currently presiding director of International Paper, a director of Lockheed Martin, a director of International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF) and Vice Chair and a member of the Executive Committee for the Council of Retired Chief Executives. Over a multi-decade career, she has held roles of chairman, president and CEO of Ingredion, president and CEO of Alcan Packaging, and various executive positions at Packaging Corporation of America. Under her leadership, the market capitalization for Ingredion grew from $2 BN to almost $10 BN. In the past, Ms. Gordon was the first female director of five different public companies: Arthur J. Gallagher, United Stationers Inc., Outboard Marine Corporation, Sundstrand Corporation, and Zenith Electronics.

Panelist: Bram Bluestein is Co-Founder of Bluestein & Associates LLC, a family office, and Bluestein Ventures LLC, an active VC investor. He currently serves as a Senior Advisor to McNally Capital LLC, and was a Board Director at Wheels, Inc for 25 years. Previously, Mr. Bluestein had a 35+ year career as a management consultant at BCG, Booz Allen Hamilton, and Kearney. At Kearney, he was elected to the Board of Directors, and led the Global Industries Practice and EDS’ Solutions Consulting. At Booz Allen Hamilton, he served as Senior Partner, led the Global Automotive Practice, and served on the board of its China arm.

Interviewer: Patricia Tsao is currently Director, Strategic Transformation in Firmenich Inc. Before joining Firmenich, she spent thirteen years in Ingredion where she took various leadership roles in strategy, finance, and business development. Patricia began her career in Unilever in key go-to-market functions. She holds a bachelor’s degree in International Business Management from National Taiwan University and a master’s degree in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
