John Inserra, President and Chief Operating Officer
Renowned for his leadership expertise in the hospitality industry, John Inserra specializes in building and mentoring strategic teams that integrate guest, community and internal communications. As President and Chief Operating Officer at Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants, Inserra has played an integral role in bringing the company’s vision to life. And just like Cooper’s Hawk, he is especially committed to creating experiences that change the lives of guests and employees alike.
Having joined Cooper’s Hawk in 2015, John is responsible for managing operations, including real estate asset management, design and construction, and business development. To date, Cooper’s Hawk has 41 restaurants across the US and the largest wine club in the country.
Prior to Cooper’s Hawk, John was Executive Vice President of Restaurants for Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, Executive Director of Food and Beverage at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, Director of Operations at The Rosenthal Group, Founder of Finbar Restaurants, and COO of The ONE Group. Inserra honed many of his leadership skills by following the example of industry luminaries like Horst Schulze, Former President of Ritz-Carlton Hotels, Niki Leondakis, CEO of Commune Hotels & Resorts and former Chief Operating Officer of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants.
A Chicago native, John reflects classic Midwestern values – he believes that hospitality begins with a handshake, and that strong communities are the building blocks of the future.
John’s career path in the hospitality world began at Cornell University where he received his Bachelor’s degree from the School of Hotel Administration. He and his family reside in Mount Prospect, Illinois.
