Nourishing the Community
From the Chicago Food Depository's new kitchen, they prepare and distribute made-from-scratch meals to meet the needs of older adults, people with disabilities and individuals with chronic health conditions.
Their goal is 10,000 meals daily – 2.5 million meals per year.
As a Wharton Club of Chicago community member, please join us to provide volunteer service to the community.
You will repack donated and purchased food. The food they receive at their warehouse comes in bulk quantities, and volunteers break it down into manageable sizes.
Together, we can properly and efficiently distribute quality food to participating food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters in Cook County.
In a Repack session, you may sort produce, inspect and box shipments of bread, or repack bulk dry goods (pasta, rice, beans) into smaller quantities.
