How well has capitalism recovered from the 2008 Financial Crisis? Join Chicago Booth Alumni and friends for an upcoming panel event featuring key leaders from the finance industry.

In this fireside chat, Professor John Paul Rollert along with top executive business leaders from the finance industry provide their retrospective look at the Financial Crisis, the lessons learned (and not learned) from it, and the abiding implications of what Alan Greenspan called a "once-in-a-century credit tsunami" and its aftermath for credit markets. 

SPEAKER PROFILES

Jack Ablin (Speaker)
Chief Investment Officer, Cresset Wealth Advisors

As Chief Investment Officer, Jack Ablin leads Cresset's investment strategy and provides investment policy and philosophy guidelines to the firm's advisor teams and clients. Mr. Ablin was formerly the Chief Investment Officer with BMO Harris Bank and is a frequent contributor to CNBC, Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal and Barron's. He served as a Professor of Finance at Boston University, Graduate School of Management and spent five years as a Money and Markets correspondent for the NBC affiliate in Jacksonville, Florida. Mr. Ablin was named one of the top 100 Wealth Advisors in North America, by CityWealth Magazine in 2006, 2010-2017.
Mr. Ablin earned an A.B. degree from Vassar College in New York, where he graduated with honors in Mathematics and Computer Science. A member of the Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society, Mr. Ablin received an M.B.A. with honors, and graduated cum laude from Boston University in Massachusetts.
 

Anthony Chan (Speaker)
Managing Director, Chief Economist, JPMorgan Chase

Anthony Chan currently serves as the Chief Economist for Chase. His responsibilities include economic analysis and research in support of Chase and the Private Bank's Global Investment Committee. Mr. Chan is a member of several forecasting panels, including the Blue Chip Monthly Forecasting panel, the National Association of Business Economists Quarterly Macro Panel and the Reuters, Bloomberg and Dow Jones Weekly Economic Indicator panels. Mr. Chan was a Doctoral fellow at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve in Washington, D.C. After completing his doctoral studies, he was a Professor of Economics at the University of Dayton. He was an Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York from 1989 to 1991 and a Senior Economist at Barclays de Zoete Wedd Government Securities from 1991 to 1994. Mr. Chan has served on the Economic Advisory Committee of the American Banker's Association and is currently a member of the Capital Markets Investment Group Committee.
Mr. Chan received his B.B.A. in Finance & Investments from Baruch College and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Maryland.


Carl Tannenbaum (Speaker) 
Executive Vice President and Chief Economist, Northern Trust

Carl Tannenbaum is the Chief Economist for Northern Trust. He is a member of the bank's investment policy committee, its capital committee, as well as its asset and liability management committee. Mr. Tannenbaum is a member and past Chairman of the American Bankers Association's Economic Advisory Committee, the National Association for Business Economics, the Conference of Business Economists, and the North American Asset/Liability Management Association. Mr. Tannenbaum also serves on the Board of Working in the Schools (WITS), a literacy organization that supports the Chicago Public Schools.
Mr. Tannenbaum earned his B.A. in Economics from the University of Chicago and received an M.B.A. in Finance and Economics from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.


John Paul Rollert(Moderator) AB 2000 Harvard College
Professor of Behavioral Science, University of Chicago Booth School of Business

John Paul Rollert's teaching and research focus on empathy and its application to business ethics and leadership. Professor Rollert has been published in The Business and Society Review, The Journal of Law, Culture and the Humanities, and the Yale Law Journal Online. His work has been featured in Slate, Salon, Politico, Bloomberg, The Harvard Business Review Online, The Washington Post, and The New York Times. Since 2005, he has taught courses in business ethics and leadership to business professionals at Harvard.
A graduate of Harvard College, Rollert earned his JD from Yale Law School and an MA from The Committee on Social Thought at the University of Chicago.
