From the President...
Welcome to the Wharton Alumni Club of Chicago website. We are thrilled to be reviving the Chicago Club, since the Chicago area is home to nearly 1,800 alumni. We have arrived at this stage through the hard work and dedication of our executive board. The Wharton Alumni Association is one of the most exclusive and powerful business networks in the world. As President of the Chicago Club, it is my responsibility to create and manage an infrastructure that can provide business contacts, access, and opportunities for all alumni. Key to our revival is that we are fundamentally changing the way alumni interact with each other and with the school. One of the key elements to the success of this venture is our website.
This new site is the Club’s intranet, and it is a work in progress. Soon you will be able to:
-
Better connect with your fellow alumni through a technology infrastructure previously unavailable to Alumni Associations.
- Use Online Forums to exchange messages, post job leads and opportunities, conduct general discussions, and receive and send feedback and suggestions.
- Receive timely announcements on a regular basis.
This website is a key way that we will make life-long networking a reality for our club. The site will eventually offer:
- Career enrichment: The Club offers an ongoing series of speakers and seminars to help you be successful in your current position and grow prospects for new positions, whether they are in your current company or a brand new venture.
- Business outreach: Through alliances and partnerships, the Club has strong links with the Chicago business community. We are continually exploring ways to lend our voice to the discussions around business leadership in our region.
While many volunteers have helped launch this web site, our Vice President of Information Technology Keith Solomon is largely responsible for making it happen. I cannot thank Keith enough for all of his efforts.
The Club's goal is to become the number one business resource for Wharton alumni in the Chicago area. Our success is strongly correlated to the efforts put in by alumni to improve the club. We always welcome any support you can give us, either through your time and/or corporate support.
Please volunteer to help us build the club. There are many options involving various levels of time commitment and interest. I encourage you to get involved with us. To get something out of the Club, you need to put something in to it. I hope you will show up, share your ideas and opinions, and be open about your pursuits.
My sincerest thanks also to the alumni who have graciously volunteered their time to play an instrumental role in helping revive the club.
Please feel free to contact me with any ideas that you would like to bring to the Club.
Sincerely,
Spencer Stern WG ‘93
