The Wharton Club of Chicago is reserving tables for Wharton Women Alumni at this special event.  Please join us to show support and admiration for our "extraordinaire" Wharton Alum, Connie K. Duckworth and for her outstanding achievements and contributions to the business field and international arena.

TIME:  11:00 am, VIP Private Reception
           12:00 pm, Luncheon and Program

As the Wharton Women Alumni Group and Patron Ticket holders, we will attend the VIP Private Reception at 11:00 am to meet with Ms. Connie Duckworth prior to the event, and personally congratulate her on receiving the award.  Noon starts the luncheon and program.   We have reserved designated tables for Wharton Woman to sit at as a group.  It is a great opportunity to get to know other outstanding Wharton Women in the Chicago area.  
 
 
The Wharton Club of Chicago and the name of each Wharton Alumni member attending will be listed in the IWA Event Program to congratulate Ms. Duckworth.
 
The event is expected to reach capacity.  Tickets are selling quickly, on first come, first serve basis.

Woman Extraordinaire Award:

Since 1996, IWA has presented its Woman Extraordinaire Award to a Chicago-area woman who has made outstanding contributions in her field and in the international arena.  Ms. Duckworth joins an impressive line of outstanding recipients, including:  2011 Anna Eleanor Roosevelt, Vice President of Global Corporate citizenship for Boeing; 2010's Marjorie Craig Benton, for her work the Partners in Health and Haiti's earthquake; and, 2009's Major L. Tammy Duckworth named Assistant Secretary for Public and Intergovernmental Affairs at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs by President Obama.

 

Ms. Duckworth's Extraordinary Highlights:

Ms. Duckworth founded ARZU Studio Hope in 2004, following a twenty-year career at Goldman Sachs as the first woman in sales and trading partner in the firm's history.  ARZU, which means "hope" in Dari, is an innovative social and business model that helps Afghan women weavers and their families break the cycle of poverty by providing a steady income and access to education and healthcare from the rugs they weave.  Ms. Duckworth is a corporate director, entrepreneur, published author, investor in women-led start-ups and a social activist.  She has received numerous awards for leadership, advocacy, social impact, innovation and global presence.

 

Ms. Duckworth was highlighted as one of 125 Influential Alumni and Faculty in a special Wharton Alumni Magazine.
